My Life as a Realtor – Day 102

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 102:

                                                                  Happy Halloween!!!

My day started off with showing a few homes – starting in New Fairfield – then Bethel and ending in Brookfield

After dropping off my clients, I made a trip to Wal-Mart to purchase some more Halloween items to complete our costumes – 4 wigs at $6 a piece – awesome price!

SSPX0969      Joe and his wig – which he kept complaining that his hair was going in his mouth so I had to clip it back!

We were invited to my brother’s house in Brookfield, CT for his yearly Halloween party – my sister-in-law, Leia out did herself again with all the decorations!  For our costumes…  Melissa was a Pirate, David a Ninja, Amanda a Baseball Player, Sara a Gypsy, Jonathan was Britney Spears, Joe was Morticia and I was Octomom!

We had a blast!  Which started with getting dressed – Joe and Jonathan both needed help getting into their dresses – Ha!

Then, we stopped at the New Fairfield Food Market to pick up a 3′ Wedge I had ordered.  Since we were all dressed in our costumes, we debated who would be going into the store to pick up the wedge.   Amanda graciously offered while the rest of us sat in the car getting stares from people coming out of the storethe photo of Joe above was taken while we were waiting and he kept getting the most stares – I was laughing so hard I could hardly drive!

We arrived at my brother’s and had a great night – food, drinks, a “Best Costume” award – which was given to my brother, Louie, who was a Bagel and his wife, Leia, who was a box of Philadelphia Cream Cheese – very original and hand-made.

I will be adding photos to this post as soon as I get my camera back – I left it at Lou & Leia’s!  The photos above were taken with my camera phone.

My Life as a Realtor – Day 46

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 46:

What a wonderful day today…  I could breathe!  Thanks to the steroids that were administered yesterday at Danbury Hospital, my lungs were clear and my asthma is 99% gone!

I also heard from a client who I haven’t heard from in about a year.  I’ve been sending listings and time to time she’d e-mail back.  Being a Realtor® and having patients and understanding helps tremendously since purchasing a home can take time helps tremendously.

I set up appointments – 3 homes in Brookfield, Newtown and Bethel – picked up my clients and had some great conversation in the car.

Then Jonathan and I went to Shaw’s for some grocery shopping, bought some wine at Fairwood Wines & Liquors in New Fairfield which is conveniently located near Shaw’s and Starbucks. Back home to whip up dinner and get back to work – made appointments for tomorrow – phone calls – e-mails – searching listings – reading…

RISING HEAT CONTINUES IN CT & NY

The HEAT continues to rise in Connecticut and New York.  Once again, many schools through out have early dismissal.

In New Fairfield, CT, we received an “Alert Now” message saying that the Senior Rec Center would be open all day for anyone needing shelter from this severe heat and humidity – and that CANDLEWOOD LAKE would be open – a GREAT place to cool off!

CANDLEWOOD LAKE is a man made lake with over 60 miles of shoreline.  In 1928, Connecticut Light & Power began the process of making Connecticut’s largest lake with water from the HOUSATONIC RIVER.

In the 1940’s, summer cottages were being built around the 4 towns and city that surround the lake –  BETHEL,   BROOKFIELD,   NEW FAIRFIELD,   NEW MILFORD   AND   SHERMAN – along with the  CITY OF DANBURY.

Now, most of the homes on and near the lake, are used all year round.  They also have Lake Associations with clubhouses, beaches and private docks.

Candlewood Lake has been a favorite for residents and visitors to boat, fish, water-ski and jet-ski – or to just sit back, relax and enjoy the view!

WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR?

Thanks for GOOGLE IMAGERY

Bethel, Connecticut – and First Time Home Buyers

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to be out with First Time Home Buyers – who happen to be in their 50’s – not your typical age of First Time Home Buyers, but adorable  non the less!

While out viewing homes with 1st time home buyers in their 20’s and 30’s, I’ll notice that they will look at a house and it’s potential to make it their own.  They have less fear of renovating and changing around the entire home, while picturing having children and investing in their future.  They also, never look at a home to see if it will fit their needs for when they retire – since they will most likely move a few times before settling down.

Going out with 1st time home buyers in their 50’s was a totally different, but heart warming experience.  My buyers were looking for a home that needed NO updating of any sort – a move-in ready home.  They viewed every home noting if the laundry room was not in the basement – so there’d be no worry of having to go up and down a flight of steps – saving their knees. They preferred a smaller yard for less maintenance – saving their back.  And they checked if each homes major parts were updated or renewed – so they’re not so worried about possibly having to deal with replacing the boiler or roof – saving their sanity and retirement fund!  They also made sure it had a large enough dinning room, since their family no longer consists of mom, dad and 2 kids.  Holidays for them is mom, dad, 2 daughters and their extended family!

Currently, I have approximately 35 people between my side of the family and my husband’s – I can’t even imagine when all our 5 children start adding on to their lives!

One of the towns we were searching in, was Bethel, Connecticut – approximately 1 hour from NYCBethel is a small, quaint town – neighboring the city of Danbury.  It has a wonderful town center full of little shops and restaurants.  Going through now, during Spring, it was nice to see everyone out on the sidewalks strolling, sipping coffee and biking.
