Up To My Elbows in Apples…

It seems that I’m up to my elbows in apples.  This is apple time of the year and with the weather getting cooler, it’s a perfect combination to bake me some apples desserts!

I’ve been trying all different recipes, here was one of our favorite – German Apple Cake – Yum!  I may bake this delight for Thanksgiving….

 Recipe from allrecipes.com ~~ CLICK ~~

This cake didn’t last very long.  Although, with 5 kids, no morsel of food lasts very long around here!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 79

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 79:

It’s Thursday – and my closing for tomorrow is confirmed – Yahoo!  I am so happy for my clients.  They are First Time Home Buyers and so looking forward to their first home.

More good news…  Fo-Fo – my in-law’s dog that we have been watching since June – left today – another Yahoo!   To everyone who didn’t know him, he looked like a cute Koala Bear – but get too close, and you’d lose a finger, or two!

Since my in-laws flew in from Portugal today, David gave Fo-Fo a bath and Joe drove him down to Mt. Vernon, NY.  He also had dinner with his family in celebration of their parents return.  The kids and I had a simple – easy – and inexpensive dinner – pasta.  I also sauted peppers, onion and spicy portuguese chorizo – Yum, Yum.  And Amanda made an oh-so-awesome Banana Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake.  Eating this cake warm is unbelievably delicious.  The recipe came from www.Foodista.com

I ended the day by working and looking forward to tomorrow –  and a 2nd slice of cake.

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 60:

Today – Saturday – busy, busy!

SSPX0734                            Driving with my gold balloons that I crammed into the back of my little rental

Picked up balloons at Shaws for a Public Open House on my listing52 Mountain Brook Road – Brewster, NY – from 11am to 1pm.

Then flew to get gas and wine on Route 22 in Brewster…

HPIM2605       Purchased 3 bottles of Red Wine – from Portugal, Spain and this one that reads B~I~T~C~H

Back up Milltown Road – from Brewster, NY into New Fairfield, CT – approx 6 minutes – to grab some lunch at home before my next Public Open House on another listing2A Hudson Drive – New Fairfield, CT

SSPX0552                                                                               Welcome!

During the Open House, a gentleman and his wife came, they had owned this home back in the 70’s – it was awesome to watch them view the home and all it’s changes.

When I arrived back at home, I was so happy to see that Joe was painting the kitchen walls – a creamy yellow.  I was even happier that I couldn’t cook dinner. Yahoo – Chinese

HPIM2592                                                                Main Moon in New Fairfield

After dinner, we sang Happy 21st Birthday to Melissa – our oldest – did I say 21?  Where have the years gone…

Melissa’s Birthday was on Thursday, September 17th – we had a special dinner, but no time for the cake since friends were taking her out to celebrate!  Therefore, she has been celebrating all weekend!

I’m in the mood to Bake!

angel-food-cake-jspatchwork                                                                   jspatchwork – Flickr.com

Oh how I love the smell of cake baking in the oven! Although, I have a secret… I prefer to bake by using box cake mix!  Sometimes, I’ll use Pillsbury’s Butter Recipe and add cinnamon – or nuts – maybe apples – or pineapple slices – throw in some raisons or mix a bunch of these – anything,  just to kick it up a notch!  Also, by adding 2 tablespoons of flour, it helps take away some of the “box” taste – that’s my mom’s secret!

 cinn-apple-rais-lemon-dizznbonn                                                                      dizznbonn – Flickr.com

And if someone prefers blueberries, another chocolate chips and someone else wants it plain – make individual cupcakes – or divide the batter in half and make 2 loaves.  Voila! Everyone is happy!

Thanksgiving Fun – Gobble, Gobble!

A Thanksgiving Alphabet

T…Turkey, table spreads, being together,

H…Happiness and homes, to protect us from all weather,

A…Aunts and uncles, a reunion in Fall,

N…Nieces and nephews, family members all!

K…Kind-hearted kin coming over for dinner,

S…Surely you’ll have fun, but you won’t get thinner!

G…Gourds and pumpkins, mouths open wide.

I…Indians and Pilgrims we remember with pride.

V…Very special times – there could even be snow.

I…Imagine what it was like on Plymouth long ago.

N…Never forget how the settlers led the way.

G…Giving Thanks and blessing this special day.

There are many more Thanksgiving poems to be read.

Also, a great holiday movie and one of my family’s favorite, A Christmas Story, has a very funny scene where the dad tries to sneak a piece of delicious Turkey – but never makes it due to the neighbors dogs getting to it first!

A Yummy recipe from Jen’s Blog on Homegood’s site:

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

1-15 oz can pure pumpkin

– 4 eggs, beaten

– 1 cup oil

– 1/2 cup cold water

– 3-1/2 cups flour

– 3 cups sugar

– 2 tsp baking soda

– 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon

– 1/2 tsp nutmeg

 – 1 tsp salt

– 2 cups chocolate chips

Combine pumpkin, eggs, oil and water.  Mix flour, baking soda, sugar, spices and salt in a separate bowl and add pumpkin mixture.  Mix well.  Fold in chocolate chips.  Place batter into 2 well greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until done.  Making 2 loafs allows you to share one enjoy the other!

I have so very much to be Thankful for – my family, our health, my and my husband’s job, my country (because I KNOW we will come out of this and be even stronger!), my friends, and my HOME. I am also Thankful for all my past clients that I have assisted in finding their home – where they will have many Holidays, making wonderful memories.  AND – I look forward to my future clients and helping them to find a Home for the Holidays as well!
