Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

This animated movie – Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer – is a family favorite.  As a child, I would watch this once a year at Christmas time.  My children were fortunate to watch it through out the Holidays thanks to video!

Julia Child and Julie & Julia

My mom and I finally watched the movie Julie & Julia.  A movie based on the true lives of 2 women – Julia Child and Julie Powell.  What a delight!

I truly enjoy watching cooking shows and watching Julia Child – played by Meryl Streep – made me strive to want to be a better cook – and watching Julie Powell – played by Amy Adams – inspired me to be a better writer and blogger.  Watching both women – made me hungry!  All the wonderful dishes they made and all the butter that was used – well, all I can say is… “Bon Appetit!”

Here is Julia Child making a omlette…

and here is the Julie & Julia trailer

My Life as a Realtor – Day 146

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 146:

Once again, it’s Monday – more working from home – more shopping and a really nice treat for mom and I.  We decided after going to Burlington Coat Factory and Shaws – we decided to take a bit of time to relax and watch “Julie & Julia” – and how happy we were that we did!  These true life stories about both women was delightful – and all the food and cooking – we were both drooling!

Watching “Julie & Julia” in the den…

While we enjoying the movie – which I rented from RedBox – Remi and Tisha snoozed near me on the coach – spoiled brats!

After the movie – it was back to reality…  I wrapped more gifts – did some work on-line and put up my Christmas wreaths – finally!

My Christmas wreaths from Faith and her boy scout group in New Fairfield – Beautiful!

Tender Years – Another I-Tunes Song

Does anyone remember the movie – “Eddie and the Cruisers” – I just came across “Tender Years” – one of the songs that was sung in the movie by John Cafferty – and I had to add it to my I-Tunes.

It’s a Wonderful Life – at Home

mysza831 – Flickr.compumpkin-road-mysza831

Oh, Thanksgiving has come and gone – but the Holidays do continue.  New Fairfield – Connecticut – has decorated the center of town and they will be having their TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY on Sunday, December 7th at 4pm on Memorial Field.  I do Love this time of the year.  Seeing the lights and holiday decorations takes me back in time to when I was a child and Christmas was my favorite time of the year!

Now as an adult, I admit that I do get a bit stressed – between deciding what to buy for who, getting and decorating the tree, sending out cards, baking, wrapping, trying ever so hard to keep many gifts a secret – which can be difficult for me, and preparing for Christmas Eve at my house… Whew!  I do love – and need to take a break – with my laptop in hand so that I can keep working, I LOVE watching Holiday movies.

The HALLMARK CHANNEL has begun their Holiday shows and they do a great job at pulling on my heart strings.

Another all time favorite of mine – and a tradition – is watching, “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE”.   Starring James Stewart and Donna Reed.  This 1946 movie made #4 of Moviefone’s list of 25 “Flicks That’ll Lift Your Spirits” as it prompts, then answers the question of what would happen if a whole life was erased as if it had never been lived??

It snowed yesterday, making it a perfect time to make some hot cocoa, light a fire, and pop in a great movie!

S…Surely you’ll have fun, but you won’t get thinner!

G…Gourds and pumpkins, mouths open wide.

I…Indians and Pilgrims we remember with pride.

V…Very special times – there could even be snow.

I…Imagine what it was like on Plymouth long ago.

N…Never forget how the settlers led the way.

G…Giving Thanks and blessing this special day.

There are many more Thanksgiving poems to be read.

Also, a great holiday movie and one of my family’s favorite, A Christmas Story, has a very funny scene where the dad tries to sneak a piece of delicious Turkey – but never makes it due to the neighbors dogs getting to it first!

A Yummy recipe from Jen’s Blog on Homegood’s site:

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

1-15 oz can pure pumpkin

– 4 eggs, beaten

– 1 cup oil

– 1/2 cup cold water

– 3-1/2 cups flour

– 3 cups sugar

– 2 tsp baking soda

– 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon

– 1/2 tsp nutmeg

 – 1 tsp salt

– 2 cups chocolate chips

Combine pumpkin, eggs, oil and water.  Mix flour, baking soda, sugar, spices and salt in a separate bowl and add pumpkin mixture.  Mix well.  Fold in chocolate chips.  Place batter into 2 well greased loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until done.  Making 2 loafs allows you to share one enjoy the other!
