My Life as a Realtor – Day 97

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 97:

Monday – looks like rain – Ugh!

Home today – working, cleaning, cooking, …  I feel as though that is all I do – and you know what?  I Love it!

Joe stopped at his mom and dads in Mt. Vernon, NY.  His mom has a brick oven that she bakes bread in – Yumo!  Too bad I have developed food allergies to wheat and corn – so no more homemade bread for me  😦

Joe’s dad had gone apple picking and sent us a bunch of delicious apples – I plan on making caramel apples for our Halloween Party at my brother’s house on Saturday.

And that brings up the problem of Halloween.  It is in just a few days and I don’t have a costume!  I am trying to do this on a budget – so I will probably just use something we have at home – I could be a Witch, Cat, Tiger – hey, we have a Batman and Pirate costume!   Oh, and… we have a Jason mask from the movie “Friday the 13th”.   Man, I still get creeped out when I watch that movie – and Michael Meyers in the movie “Halloween” .   No other movies scare me more than these two.  It may be because when I first watched them, I was young and they scared the heck out of me.  Even as a mother of 5 and being 44 years old – watching these horror flicks brings those frightful memories, which come rushing back and make me feel like a scared child again.  Maybe I need therapy?  😉

Watch below… if you dare!

Oh my!

Really, the sounds and music in both of these movies send chills up my spine!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 36

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 36:

Well, an easy day – work wasn’t very demanding today – only had about 20 phone calls – under 200 e-mails – wrote 2 Blog post – 1 Fax – and of course tending to the house, kids and pets filled in the rest of the day.

Drove Jonathan to Loews Movie Theatre in Danbury.  He watched Shorts and then went to a friends.

David had to go to West Conn – so much involved in registering Melissa and David for college – maybe by our fifth child, I’ll be a pro!

For dinnergrilled chicken – one of my favorite foods to eat.  Since school begins next week, Melissa and David have some friends over.  Thankfully, they are all watching a movie and not making much noise.  Tomorrow is a big day – since July 17th, my clients have been patiently waiting to close on their first home.  Tomorrow is finally their big day!

My daughter, Amanda, and I just got back from Shaw’s Supermarket in New Fairfield – Connecticut.  We rented a few movies from Redbox – $1 each – as long as you return them the next day, or it’s a dollar charge for each extra day.

The Haunting in Connecticut

As a Realtor in New York and Connecticut, I’ve visited many homes, some built as early as the 1700’s.   Many times I’ve experienced odd feelings  –  which always make me wonder…

Wine Library TV with Gary Vaynerchuk

This is a stressful economic time for many people right now – and everyone needs to take time to themselves.

Whether it’s listening to some of your favorite songs – I have so many, but Hotel California by The Eagles, brings back lots of memories.  My parents had a country house in Margaretville, NY.  Every chance possible, we would pack up the 5 kids, clothes, food, Pebbles – our dog and stuff everyone into our mini van for the 2-1/2 hour ride.   With no I-Pods around yet and hardly any radio reception – cd’s were it and Hotel California was our favorite!

Whether it’s watching a movie that cracks you up – or possibly makes you realize how lucky we are even in these tough times – or… a great romance – The Notebook ranks really high on my list!

Reading a book – a really, really good book.  One that you take into the bathroom even if it’s just to read a paragraph.  Maybe you’ll enjoy The Lighthouse Keeper by James Michael Pratt

Getting together with friends – maybe your house one week, a friends house the next time.  Taking the stress and financial burden off of one person since everyone contributes.  One guest can bring cheese and crackers – bought on sale at the supermarket, another can purchase a bottle or two… or three of wine – keeping in mind that you do not have to spend alot of money.

A FANTASTIC site that I just stumbled upon is  WineLibraryTV.com with Gary Vaynerchuk where he speaks passionately while educating you on wine – like take the time to take a “sniffy, sniff” before drinking your wine – and teaching you to look for wine with “thunder”costs less, tastes BIG.  Gary has been a guest on many popular shows – Ellen De Generes, Mad Money, Night Line and my favorite – Conan O’Brien – too funny!  When visiting Gary’s site, under National TV Appearances, click on “Conan O’Brien” and watch him get a “Buzz”! Or view the video below to get to know him a bit.

My husbands birthday is coming up.  I never know what to get him, but this year, Gary has inspired me to try new wines.  I will purchase a few different bottles – a Portuguese wine will be at the top of my list since my husband was born and raised there and he LOVES his country’s wine. Then I’ll just have fun picking a few different varieties.  Once a week or so, my husband can pick which bottle he’d like to have with dinner – and that means I get to have some too!  Awesome – I can’t wait!

Family Halloween Night!

  Darkpatator – FLICKR

My family and I celebrated HALLOWEEN night at my brother, Louie and sister-in-law, Leia’s home.  They went all out with “spooky” decorations and “scary” – but yummy – TREATS.  We had a ton of LAUGHS through out our “MONSTER MASH” night!

Tonight, after Trick-or-Treating, I watched The Poltergeist – a favorite of mine.  I have MANY others that I can share.  Remember, it doesn’t have to be Halloween to watch a scary movie.

  • The Silence of the Lambs
  • Friday the 13th
  • Halloween
  • Carrie
  • Jeepers Creepers
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • The Shinning
  • The Birds
  • The Sixth Sense
  • The Exorcist
  • Amityville Horror
  • Psycho
  • What Lies Beneath …. Just to name a few!
