My Life as a Realtor – Day 188

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 188:

Quiet day today after a busy day yesterday.  Did some work from home –  I am always trying to catch up which is not always easy with all the distractions I have at home.  Here is Moe goofing around – he was trying to hide from Remi…

Although Remi always knows where Moe is since he tends to sleep with one eye open…

And then there was Tisha – who decided to bother Cha-Cha…

Even with all my distractions, I love working from home – especially days like today.  It poured all day long!  Here is our stream – which was overflowing in the back yard…

My Life as a Realtor – Day 178

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 178:

Looks as though the market is beginning to pick up now after the holidays.  I have a few scheduled appointments with my listings and have noticed more activity in viewings on Listing Book in New York and especially with my listings in Connecticut.  This makes me smile – along with today being Friday!!

Did a few errands – then worked from home.  My poor laptop never gets a break.  While at home, I took a few pics of our pets playing around at home

Moe hiding at the top of the stairs leading to Melissa’s room. As I walked by, he tried swiping at my head.  For some reason Remi is afraid to climb up…

So he hangs out and waits for Moe to come down so he can chase him around the entire house…

Tisha preferred to hang out with me while I made my bed.  She wants nothing to do with Remi and Moe’s cat and dog game.

while I was busy with work and home life…  and I swear I spend so much of that time with Remi and Tisha – letting them outside and 2 minutes later, letting them back inside, feeding, calling, shushing, chasing and lots and lots of LOVING!

SLEEPLESS IN REAL ESTATE!

I can’t believe it’s July already!  I have been extremely busy …. getting about 6 hours of sleep a day …. and LOVING IT!!

The other day, I came down to get a cup of coffee, half asleep, I looked over and said “Good Morning” to our 2 Cockatiels, Chico and Cha-Cha.  Although, this morning I thought I saw 3 birds and said to myself,  I’d better start getting more sleep soon since I’m now starting to see things!

I had my coffee, watched “Good Morning America”, updated my Tweets on “Twitter” – which is people from all over, lots Realtors who share lots of informative info about the market, new technology and lots of personal stories in the business along with much needed support and networking.

After doing some work, I started to make my way back upstairs and once again, I noticed 3 birds!!  I stood there …. blinked …. still 3 birds instead of 2!

I decided to open the cage door to see if it, the 3rd bird, would move. It sure did – it tried biting me!  I quickly called my husband to see if he had any idea why we had an extra bird.  He laughed, HA! HA! – NOT funny I thought.

He explained that after working a double shift last night,  he brought her home while I was in the shower.  Not having much sleep himself, he completely forgot to tell me and left again early in the morning  – “SURPRISE” – he said!

Her name is Fufita and she still tries to bite me, but Chico and Cha-Cha love her!  AND I’m still not getting enough sleep… and LOVING IT!!

Many THANKS to GOOGLE IMAGERY for some of these photos!

Friends on the Road in Real Estate

As many of you know, I am a Realtor in New York and Connecticut.  Within those 2 states, I cover 5 counties – Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties in NY and Fairfield and parts of Litchfield counties in CT.  That is ALOT of driving!

Along the way, I have seen many interesting places and have met some new friends – critter friends – some small and some … not so small!

Adorable pup in Carmel, NY – at first, he came out of his home barking up a storm, then allowed me to step out of the car to view his property.

A very brave Chipmunk who allowed me to snap a few photos.

Stopped to say “Hello” to these fellows after a  very exciting viewing of the home of an Oscar winning actor in Patterson, NY!

I didn’t get out of the car for this photo!

Many, many ponds, lakes, streams and reservoirs through out all 5 counties full of fish, turtles, frogs, ducks, geese, swans, ….

Two Doves who kept getting closer and closer to me.

If your thinking of purchasing a home and moving here, just think – when the kids ask for a pet, just take them for a ride – there is so much to see!

WON’T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR?

Coyotes and Foxes and Deer…and Bears – Oh My!

I Spy a ..... DEER!There are many “critters” living and roaming in my backyard here in New Fairfield, Connecticut – my very own Animal Kingdom.  Having moved from Mount Vernon then to Harrison – both in Westchester County, New York – I was accustomed to seeing squirrels, raccoons, and once an opossum.  Then, almost 4 years ago, my family and I made our way into Connecticut.

New Fairfield was ideal since it neighbors Brewster – which is just over and into the New York border -making my husbands commute, via 684 to New York City, quicker and easier. We were also able to take advange of lower property and sales taxes as well as the lower automobile and homeowner insurance.

We moved in August of 2004 with 5 kids, our pup Jolu, kitty Moe and a tank full of Goldfish.  And, every year we seem to add a new – what we now call “pets“, to our home!

We first started with families of deer, sometimes seeing 7 at a time – my lucky number.  Can you Spy the deer in the photo?  Then towards the end of our first year, we spotted our first fox – adorable!  I nick named him Foxy Pooh – very original.  My neighbor had a Mother Fox and her 2 cubs living in his backyard – too cute!

Our second year in New Fairfield we were introduced to Black Bears– although, only hearing of them – never seeing them – yet!  They went from being spotted in the Pootatuck State Forest – miles away – to just a few blocks away!

Into our third year, one warm summer night, we officially heard the coyote, howling in my driveway at the moonlight – or could he have been howling at the light from my bedroom window?

Now we will soon be getting into our 4th year and I’m awfully curious what new “pet” we’ll be adding.  Maybe a Moose

Living in New Fairfield, makes coming home feel like we’re going to my Mom’s country house – except it’s our house and we get to come home everyday to a town filled with nature and animal life.
